This union is composed of the small and poor farmers who own small lands in the different areas of south Mauritania and who suffer a lot because of drought and poverty and because they are left alone by the state. Due to the deteriorating economic situation of the poor farmers, they created their own union which is an independent organization belonging to no confederation or other organization. Founded in 2013 by a group of farmers who are old political leftist activists and prisoners since the seventies. The main objective of the union is defending the rights and interests of small poor farmers and organize them to face the economic crisis of production and to better their living. The union recently held its general assembly and elected a SG and members of the executive board. The Union SG and members expressed their adherence in the principles of LVC considering that it defends the same values they have been struggling for and it represents the same paradigm and system of values and principles they adopt. The union is active in the most three agricultural areas in Mauritania, and in other areas, and they are struggling to cover the whole country
